Our week in Cambodia as part of the Kampot Writers and Readers Festival 2016 was something else!
It was fantastic to be a part of the festival which moved between Phnom Penh and Kampot. Big ups to Peter Woods on keys and harmonies, Dan Davies on double bass and Julien Poulson on lead guitar for being totally on it and brilliant throughout.
We went from an acoustic duo in the Raffles hotel wine bar on the opening night to a massive six-piece cowboy punk colossus as part of the closing wrap party seven days later – and many variations in between. Magnificent stuff.
But it wasn’t about us. We were a small part of what was a huge program of talks, workshops, films, events, poetry and music that celebrated and promoted Khmer culture and the beauty of the word. It was a pleasure to be there to experience this as well as the beautiful Cambodian country.
Thanks to the many involved in putting together such a wonderfully cultural and creative event, particularly Julien Poulson and Tony Lefferts from Space Agency Asia. This is what it’s all about!
